Mark Banks
Clinical Director, Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc CertVOphthal MRCVSMark qualified from Liverpool University in 1994 and has been at Penbode Pets ever since. He has a special interest in eyes, and has gained his Royal College Certificate in ophthalmology. He owns a lazy dog who doesn’t join him on his cycle trips around Cornwall.

Claire Davies
Clinical Director, Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSClaire qualified from Bristol University in 1983 and worked in pet practices throughout the UK before joining Penbode Pets in 1992. She is now a clinical director of the Pets practice, having been instrumental in its development over many years. Her passion is to make available, through thoughtful teamwork, high standard, compassionate care to all pets and their owners.

Jackie Felce
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSJackie qualified from Liverpool University in 1987 and has worked at Penbode Pets ever since. She has no free time outside of work as she’s kept very busy looking after her two young boys and farm where she keeps cattle, sheep, chickens, cats, dogs and a pet tarantula!

Pas Medina

Lic.Vet., GPCert(ExAP), PgC EAS, MRCVS RCVSOriginally from Madrid, Pas grew up in the seaside town of Premià de Mar near Barcelona where he knew he wanted to be a vet from the tender age of three! Pas is our go to exotics vet – before heading over to the UK he saw practice in South Africa and says “you can’t do a wild animal spay until you’ve done 100 cat spays”.

Nick Carter

BVSc MRCVSNick qualified from Glasgow University in 1987 and has run the Camelford branch since 2003. He adores his dogs and his wife loves dog-shows – he can therefore be found most weekends, when not on duty, at local and national dog shows.

Sally Rowlands
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSSally qualified in South Africa in 2001, before moving to the UK for work and travel, and started at Penbode in 2002. She enjoys all aspects of GP work, especially getting to know clients and their pets. Outside of work she loves Devon and Cornwall coastal walks with her dog.

Dave Tittle
Veterinary Surgeon
BVetMed CertVA GPCert(WVA&CPM) MRCVS RCVSDave qualified from the Royal Veterinary College, London in 2000 and spent his career in North Devon, before crossing the border to Cornwall in late 2021.
His particular interests lie in anaesthesia, acute and chronic pain management, as well as emergency and critical care of companion animals. In 2010 he obtained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Anaesthesia, and in 2015, Dave became an RCVS Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Anaesthesia. He then attained his General Practitioner Certificate in Western Veterinary Acupuncture and Chronic Pain Management in 2018. He is passionate about pain relief in animals – both in the time around a trauma or surgical procedure, and also in those animals suffering from chronic pain states. Dave runs Pain Clinics based from our Stratton branch, accepting referrals from both within the Penbode group and from other veterinary practices.

Kate Cleave
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSKate qualified from Bristol University in 2001 and has been at Penbode ever since. Initially working in mixed practice at Bradworthy, she now works part-time with the small animal team in Holsworthy and Bradworthy. Kate is married to a dairy farmer and they have three young children. Outside of work she enjoys running, baking cakes and spending time with family including Daisy the dog.

Heather Stacey
Veterinary Surgeon
BVSc MRCVSHeather qualified from Bristol University in 2011 and began working in mixed practice before deciding to concentrate on small animal practice when joining Penbode Vets. She is married to a farmer and has two young girls, who keep her busy. In her limited spare time, Heather enjoys walking with her dogs and running, participating at events as a member of Holsworthy Running Club.

Kate Sharp

BVSc MRCVSKate qualified from Bristol University in 2010. She enjoys all aspects of small animal practice with a particular interest in cats, her own black fluff-ball, Bobbin, being a constant source of amusement and strife, keeping her busy along with her little girl and Murphy the springer spaniel.

BSc, BVM&S, CertAVP (SAM), MRCVS RCVSMark qualified from Edinburgh in 2005. After a couple of years in a mixed practice in the north of England he moved down to Devon. Since then he has worked in small animal practice with a keen interest in cardiology and internal medicine gaining a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in 2014 and Advanced Practitioner status in small animal medicine in 2021. Outside of work he loves to spend time with his family, going for walks and bike rides in the contryside.

Antonia Yelland

BVetMed MRCVSAntonia graduated in 2010 from the RVC and started work originally in mixed practice but since 2014 has been following her passion into companion animal care. She is devoted to all aspects of general practice and in improving quality of life of pets and their owners. Antonia enjoys challenging medical cases and soft tissue surgery. She has also has a special interest in dentistry.

Olivia Lawrence

BVSc MRCVSOlivia is originally from Southampton in Hampshire. After graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2019, Olivia started working in charity practice. She worked at the PDSA for a few years before joining Penbode Pet Vets in 2022. She always wanted to end up in companion animal practice but does admit she misses working with farm animals like she did at university.

Sam Stephens
Nurse Manager and Registered Veterinary Nurse
RVN NCertAnBehSam qualified as an RVN in 2003, and joined the team in 2017 as our head nurse. She has been lucky enough to travel around the world assisting on volunteer projects, including a lion breeding program in Zimbabwe and an orangutan conservation program in Borneo. In her spare time she enjoys competing with her border collie in agility, horse riding and travelling.

Andrea Drake
Branch Deputy Nurse Manager (Stratton and Bradworthy) and Registered Veterinary Nurse
RVNAndrea qualified in 1996 from Bicton College, and has worked in various practices in Devon since, as well as in Australia, Dubai and Sri Lanka. She joined the team in 2014 and has since completed a merit award in anaesthesia and critical care. She has two teenagers, two cats and a rabbit at home who keep her busy. In her spare time she can be found getting muddy on her mountain bike.

Originally from Berkshire, Julia moved to the South West to study animal behaviour and welfare at The University of Plymouth. In her spare time she enjoys beach walks with her dog, swimming in the sea pool and climbing.

RVNKate qualified from the University of Bristol in 2005 and since her career has taken her from China to Somerset, as well as two stints with the Penbode team, first as our head nurse, before returning part time. She’s a keen gardener and DIY-er and is kept busy with her two dogs.

RVN BSc Hons VHS Cert EVNJess studied at Sparsholt College for her veterinary health studies degree in 2009, before joining Penbode immediately afterwards. She has two cats that she hand-reared from tiny kittens, and a human baby as well! Outside of work she loves to bake.

After spending time in emergency and referral hospitals across the south west, she came home to North Devon and started work with Penbode in 2015. She has since completed several courses including BSAVA Vet nurse merit award in surgical nursing.

RVNDaisy has worked in the industry since 2006, qualifying as veterinary nurse in 2012 and joining Penbode in 2019, when she decided to move closer to the sea. Outside of work she enjoys looking after her two children and seven active dogs, spending time on the beach and taking long dog walks.

RVNCatherine qualified in 2013 and has worked with us on and off ever since, as well as locumming in Bournemouth and Bristol. She has spent time volunteering with animals in Australia and Costa Rica. She loves hockey, surfing and skiing, and volunteers with street vets.

RVN BSc (Hons)Kaylie joined Penbode Vets in 2016 after qualifying in veterinary nursing science from Hartpury College. She is heavily involved with the rewarding role of training student veterinary nurses. She has a cat, Jazmine, and an assortment of sheep. She greatly enjoys the outdoors and is actively involved locally in gig rowing and YFC.

Louise Cowling

RVN NCert(SANutr)Louise has worked for Penbode since 2013, qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2016. She holds a certificate in small animal nutrition which is an area she is passionate about. She is also particularly interested in pet bereavement, and is here to help if you have lost your beloved pet. In her spare time, she enjoys canicross with her Labrador, Mya, as well as baking cakes, exploring new places and visiting her family in the sunshine in Italy.

RVNEmma trained at Wilbury Vets in Brighton, before joining the Penbode team in 2017. She is particularly interested in hydrotherapy. Outside work she has a working cocker called Willow and enjoys surfing, snowboarding, yoga and jewellery making.

RVNToni has always wanted to work with animals, and originally joined us as a receptionist, before progressing to studying nursing. She is particularly interested in emergency and critical care. Outside of work you will either find her spending time with little Jack Russell Bella or her with her horse.

RVNDani joined the team in 2016, qualifying as a veterinary nurse in 2019. She has previously worked closely with British wildlife, and has a degree in equine behavioural science. Outside work she enjoys caring for her two horses and her cocker spaniel, as well as walking, climbing and various creative outlets!

RVNBridie did work experience with us, as well as working as our Saturday receptionist for five years, before joining halfway through her vet nurse training in 2019. She is particularly interested in animal welfare and emergency care. Outside of work she keeps horses, rabbits and fosters cats, as well as looking after hedgehogs.

RVN R-SQP (RAMA)Helen started working at the Camelford based JJ Holt veterinary practice in 2007 as a receptionist before the practice changed hands to Penbode in 2015. She is a Registered Animal Medicines Advisor (RAMA R-SQP) in equine, farm and companion animals. She began her veterinary nursing training in 2019 and is due to qualify in 2022. So far she has a keen interest in Lab and Diagnostic imaging.

RVNMel joined Penbode vets in 2018 and absolutely loves her job. She previously worked at veterinary practices in Penzance and Sidmouth. Working at Penbode Vets has always been her dream – she relishes being so close to home and having such lovely clients. Mel has always been an animal lover and her favourite hobby is walking her dogs and enjoying the fresh air.

Eleanor started working at Penbode in September as an Animal Nursing Assistant and has now started her veterinary nursing course. From a young age she has always enjoyed being around animals. When not working she enjoys riding her horse and milking the cows at home.

Becky worked in many areas of the pet industry over the years including grooming before starting working for Penbode Pet Vets in September 2020 as an Animal Nursing Assistant. She has progressed to Student Veterinary Nurse studying at Bicton College.

Kayleigh Sparks
Student Nurse
Student veterinary nurse Kayleigh has spent a lot of free time volunteering for local animal shelters and started her veterinary career as an animal nursing assistant before coming to Penbode to train as a nurse. In her free time, she can be found reading (many!) books and running. Kayleigh also has two cats who like to cause trouble!

Brought up in a small village in North Devon Megan is no stranger to farm life. Megan has worked for animal charities since 19 years old and has been lucky enough to work with a range of animals. Originally from our Equine team, Megan joined Penbode in 2021 and in August 2022 moved across to our pets team as a student veterinary nurse.

Julie’s role as Head Pets Reception Manager means her work takes her to all four Penbode branches! She has worked for the company for ten years. In her spare time she enjoys exploring beautiful Cornwall with her own horses.

Paula has been working for Penbode Vets since 1994 and is well known as the face of Stratton! She loves her job and has built a great relationship with our team and clients. She has completed a course on supporting clients during the loss of their pet. She is somewhat of a beach lover and enjoys spending time there with her daughter and her dogs.

Vanessa joined Penbode Pet Vets in March 2019 and works in our Holsworthy branch. Outside of work she has two dogs, a labrador and an English springer spaniel which need plenty of exercise. She also has a veteran New Forest pony which she fostered when she did voluntary work for a pony rescue centre.

Glenn has worked for Penbode Vets since September 2022. He enjoys helping clients and making the moments before and after their appointments as smooth as possible. After a period of a lack of confidence, he really credits the Penbode team and job role with helping him regain his confidence. Out of work he is an avid collector of superhero memorabilia and ephemera, mostly Batman!
