Stethoscope on the Cardiogram

Penbode’s first branch was opened by William Penhale in 1840. Ever since we’ve built a reputation as one of the best veterinary practices in south west England. And it’s that community trust combined with our commitment to providing a state-of-the-art service using advancing veterinary knowledge that marks us out as a fantastic place to work.

All of our team work within their own areas of expertise and undertake extensive professional development, because we believe that to give our clients and their animals the best possible service, we need to help you to constantly grow and improve. So whether you work as a vet with exotic animals or as a receptionist in an equine clinic, we’ll give you the tools to reach the height of your abilities.

Veterinary Nursing

What sets us apart as trusted community vets in Devon and Cornwall is that we go the extra mile. That means that our nurses put in every effort necessary to support patients who have separation anxiety. It means that our equine and farm vets take time to get to know clients and their animals, and they’re not just somebody that turns up one day and is never seen again. It means we make an effort to engage with clients, putting on events and talks to help share our knowledge and experience with communities. And so when we help our clients and patients, it feels even more special.

Farm Vet - Devon / Cornwall border

Large diverse farm practice based on the Devon/Cornwall border, looking for a vet ideally with some experience. We are a friendly, supportive team working across three branches. We have a large dairy client base alongside plenty of beef, sheep and smallholder work to suit all interests.

OOH is shared fairly between the whole team with three vets on each night/weekend to offer plenty of support. Our clinical team of 25 vets, VetTechs and ATTs share the TB testing and auxiliary farm work, enabling the vets more time to focus on delivering the best possible service for our fantastic clients.

We deliver regular client training meetings, carry out export work and actively engage in local and national initiatives. The size of the team ensures that there is always someone available for case discussions either in the office or the pub.

TOIL and a generous holiday allowance gives everyone plenty of time to enjoy the local beaches and moors.

Ideally this would be a full time position however we would consider more flexibility to fit around other commitments or hobbies.

Penbode Farm Vets is embedded in the local rural community and supports local clubs, schools and associations. Away from the practice we are a down to earth lot and members of a variety of local sports clubs (hockey, rugby, football, netball), running, walking, off-roading, pub quizzes, dancing (all Covid dependent of course!)
