The Vets

Mark Banks Mark Banks [Partner]
Mark Qualified from Liverpool in 1994 and started work at our Holsworthy branch doing large and small animal work, before moving to Stratton as a full-time small animal vet in 2003.
Mark has a special interest in eyes, and has gained his Royal College certificate in ophthalmology.
Out of work, Mark is either being bossed around by his wife and daughter, tring to keep his decrepit Land Rover on the road or mourning the demise of Leeds United Football Club.

Claire Davies Claire Davies
Claire qualified fromBristol in 1983 and worked in a variety of practices throughout the UK before coming to Penbode as the first dedicated small-animal vet in 1992
Claire enjoys all aspects of veterinary pracice and has been incorporating complementary therapies of homeopathy and acupuncturefor many years. she gained veterinary membership of the faculty of homeopathy in 2002.
Claire is happy to take referrals in homeopathy and acupuncture for dogs and cats and is able to offer homeopathic treatment for horses and farm animals.
Outside work, she has a busy family life involving a variety of outdoor interests. She particularly enjoys coastal walks and travelling

Jane Oliver MRCVS:
Jane graduated from Bristol in 1989 and joined Penbode's Holsworthy branch as a newly qualified vet.
She spent 10 years in Mixed practice, and then moved to purely small-animal work.
She has worked at all 4 of the branches at ontime or another, but is now mostly based at Stratton, consulting at Holsworthy on Fridays.
Jane's main interest lies in skin problems of dogs and cats.
Outside work she is kept busy by her 3 children and her menagerie of pigs, sheep, horses and cats.

The Nurses

Rachael Woodley Rachael Woodley Dip AVN Surg VN

Rachael qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1999 whilst working in Callington, Cornwall. Since then she has worked in Bovey tracey, Devon, and a veterinary hospital in Bradley Stoke, Bristol, before starting work at Penbode in Aug 2003. Rachael is Head nurse at the Stratton branch, and Nursing Administrator for the whole Penbode group. She gained her D32/D33 assessing qualification in 2001, Hills certificate in small animal clinical nutrition in 2002 and her diploma in small animal nursing (surgical)in July 2006.
Rachael's main interests at work are surgical nursing, and ensuring that the nursing standards throughout Penbode are the best possible.

ShonaShona Campbell RVN
Shona joined Penbode in 2003 moving from Scotland to Cornwall. She carried out her training with Penbode and qualified in March 2007. She has a particular interest in animal behaviour.
Outside work, Shona enjoys dog agility with her 3 springer spaniels Rowan, Clover and Teasle.

JessJess Glover SVN
Jess is currently a level 3 student veterinary nurse. She has almost completed her degree in veterinary health studies at Sparsholt. She joined Penbode in June 2008. Outside work Jess enjoys Shopping and trips to the cinema. She has a cat called Poppy and a budgie called Captain Jack

KayleighKayleigh Harris ANA
Kayleigh is a student veterinary nurse. She has recently passed her ANA course, and is now enrolled at Duchy college doing her SVN levelII. Kayleigh joined Penbode in May 2007 working at our Holsworthy branch, but has since moved to work at Stratton.

Reception and ancillary staff

PaulaPaula Curtis
Paula started work at Penbode in 1994 initially as a student vet nurse, but now has become our main small-animal receptionist.
Outside work, Paula enjoys looking after her many animalsincluding cats, dogs and "Emily" the chicken.

HelenHelen Gliddon:
Helen is a full-time large-animal receptionist and has worked for Penbode at the Stratton branch since March 2004.
Outside work, Helen enjoyshorse riding and walking her airdale terrier "Rosco"

Juliet Moon:
Juliet started work at Penbode in April 2004. She is part of the large-animal team, working full-time as a receptionist in the Farm animal department at Stratton.
Outside work, Juliet enjoys swimming and walking her greyhounds "Harley" and "Billy"

Beckie Hogg
Beckie started work for Penbode in July 2008 as a part-time receptionist.
Beckie loves animals- she already has a dog called "Poppet", 2 rabbits, 1 guinea pig and a corn snake. She is hoping to have chinchillas in the future, andany other cute animals that are looking for a good home!
