The Founding branch and nervecentre of the group.
The branch is situated near the centre of Holsworthy, with customer parking on-site. The building is on a rather sharp bend in the road (North Road, A388). Having passed the church on your Right, slow down as you go round the Left-hand bend: the entrance to Penbode is just round the bend, and is quite narrow.
Although we are located in an old Victorian building we are a forward thinking practice. The resident Holsworthy companion animal vets are Adrian Oliver and Sally Biggs, assisted by a team of 4 veterinary nurses. There are a further 2 qualified nurses behind the reception and dispensing desks.
We are a busy practice and consultations are by appointment only, hopefully this saves our clients from having to wait too long to be seen! 15 minute appointments are standard; this allows consultations to be relaxed and unhurried, so that the vet is able to do a full history taking and examination for every patient. We will always make space for real emergencies.
The nurses are an important part of any practice. Ours are very friendly and will usually be your first point of contact if your pet is being admitted or discharged for a procedure. They can also advise on routine flea and worming, diets and dental care, as well as wealth of other topics. They offer a variety of services from post-op checks and suture removal, to claw clipping and bandaging. Do make use of them!
We have a full range of facilities including an on-site laboratory, a fully enclosed operating theatre with up to date anaesthetics, a dental area and dedicated radiography room. We have recently changed to a digital X-ray system which dramatically improves the quality of X-rays taken. We also have access to endoscopy, a small animal ultrasound machine, an ECG machine, blood pressure monitor and cryosurgery equipment.
