David Rowlands BVSc CertEM (StudMed) MRCVS
David was brought up in Cornwall. He qualified from Liverpool University in 1997 and has worked in equine referral hospitals in Ireland, New Zealand and Newmarket. In 2005 he returned to the West Country to help establish the Penhale Equine Clinic at Penbode Veterinary Group. His areas of professional interest include stud and sport horse medicine. He is part of the BEF veterinary team and a holder of the RCVS Certificate of Equine Medicine (Stud Medicine).
Gemma Hearn BVSc MRCVS
Gemma has been working at the clinic since 2005. She graduated from Liverpool University and spent some time in mixed practice before joining the clinic. She has a keen interest in lameness investigation, medical cases and is also the surgeon for our first opinion cases. Gemma hopes to be undertaking a certificate in the future. She is a keen rider and competes her own horse, Shellie, at local level and is a member of HDRC.
Nicola Pursey MA VetMB MRCVS (Nicola)
Nicola is the newest addition to the team, having joined the practice in October 2007. She graduated from Cambridge University and also holds a degree in Zoology. Nicola has a particular interest in stud and internal medicine and anaesthesia. She has owned and competed horses for many years and is also a keen glider pilot.

Karen Easterbrook
Karen has many years of experience with horses and is now fulfilling her dream of being more involved in the equine veterinary world. Her passion is eventing and she has a keen interest in all the disciplines.
Caroline Barnes
Caroline has a wealth of experience with horses. She has bred two of her own foals and has a keen interest in Sports Horse Breeding. Caroline’s interests started with Dressage but she has now developed a love of eventing.
